There is one and only one online marketing secret. There is no secret, no magic bullet, or foolproof formula.
There is one and only one online marketing secret. There is no secret, no magic bullet, or foolproof formula. Forget all the emails you get from the so-called gurus claiming to have the key to immediate internet riches. If these people really are wealthy, it is probably as a result of exploiting people who believe that all they need to get rich is a $97 internet business course or a $67 piece of software. How do I know? For nearly 7 years I have offered free search engine ranking to website owners, and I have researched and written dozens of articles on online businesses. In my research, I have found countless scams a few...a very few...wothwhile information programs, and no "can't fail" paths to quick and easy riches. Finding people who will offer to sell you "instant wealth" is easy. But, their information is seldom worth the $37-$250 price tag. But, there is Internet Marketing information out there that can help you earn a living online, and maybe even do far better than that. Here is a good summary of it, and it won't cost you a dime. 1. You do not need a formally constructed business plan unless you seek investors, but you do need a plan. Better to move forward slowly than to spend months making up for mistakes. 2. You will not become a millionaire by putting up a few websites, rolling out of bed at noon, and going online to learn that $10,000 came in while you were sleeping. Be prepared to work. 3. Your best bet is to select a product or service people require. If that is not possible, offer something they think they need or something they are likely to want badly. 4. Tell the truth. All of us are more inclined to buy from those we trust. 5. Your website and other promotional copy must respect people's time. Who wants to read a repetitive 700 word sales pitch? 6. Remember that many people are afraid to buy from a faceless business on the Internet. But, a good guarantee can eliminate that fear. 7. Don't be afraid to spend money on autoresponders, link building software, organizers, and other products that allow you to accomplish important tasks more quickly. 8. Recognize the importance of aggressive marketing. Design a well-conceived marketing plan, and allocate at least 80 hours a month to marketing-related activities. It would be nice if there were 5 steps you could take to guarantee success. Unfortunately, that's just the stuff of dreams. But, if you develop a thoughtful business plan, work hard, and market your business aggressively, I like your chances. More information: Daniel Z.
