About Us - About Gr8ideas

Gr8ideas has developed as a result of years of frustration as an inventor. As a young Aussie with an amazing concept, but absolutely no idea about how to create a marketable product, I wasted literally months searching the internet for information on where to go, and what to do next.

Once I finally got my idea prototyped, and patented, I eagerly applied for the ABC New Inventors show, because I knew that anyone who had every had an infant would relate to the necessity of my Gr8 idea. My idea was going to change the world. All I needed was a quick way for Australia to recognise it and then watch out world, here I come. ABC New Inventors was my answer.

Unfortunately, although my product was fantastic, they "only had 3 spots available for each show" and I was told that "there were over 100 applicants per week". Sorry you were unsuccessful, we will put it on file for later".

After sulking for a good couple of weeks, I realised that if there are 100 applicants each week and only 3 spots, that means that there are at least 97 inventors each week who experience the same heart wrenching rejection I had just faced. 97 inventors each week = over 5000 inventors every year.

Hang on. 5000 inventors each year. That is an awful lot of amazing ideas being created by Aussies. If I had wasted hundreds of hours searching the net for information on how to get my invention to production stage, these 5000 would probably have faced the same issues.

It was then that I realised that a website that provided high quality articles by inventors for inventors was needed. Invention Journey was born.

I spent much of the next 3 years researching and getting the site together. I also realised that not only do budding inventors need short to the point articles about the next part of the invention process, they need access to a spot where they can ask questions of fellow inventors and get practical responses. The Forum was born.

As a part of my research, I discovered that a majority of inventors have wasted hours searching for companies to help them with the next phase of the invention process whether it is patent research, prototype development or distribution. The Suppliers Business Directory was born.

This site will continue to evolve as the needs arise and as the inventors of Australia contribute their knowledge. Right now anyone who is a registered user can request author rights and submit articles to any part of the site. These articles will be review and if approved added within a day or two. Any authors will be sent email confirming their successful submission.

Thank you for having the courage to take this amazing journey. I hope you enjoy the ride.
